You can’t help but be drawn in by this nose. Generous fruit, handled carefully and displaying itself with decorum and class. Bright on entry, new-season red fruits mingle with fresh herbs, salted plum, a hint of cracked white pepper, white florals, candied violets, star anise and a fresh minerality of wet granite. There’s a real purity of fruit on the palate, with nowhere to hide thanks to a natural ferment and minimal oak usage. And why would you hide when there’s such beauty on display? Velvety tannins, fresh and vibrant acidity give an altogether complete wine. This is just the beginning for what is in store with the Soldier’s Land wines, mark my words.
