The Scholz family has tended this fine vineyard in the Light Pass subregion of the Barossa for seven generations, with young winemaker Jack Scholz taking this wine in a compelling new direction. The perfume, with lifted violets and exciting raspberry over fresh blackberry, is amplified by generous whole berries in the ferment, but this serves to enhance, not exaggerate, its best assets. The fruit flavours are equally expressive, but also chiselled inside a firm mid-palate structure. A bright acid line reinforces the freshness of the flavours that run long and true, finishing with the gentlest squeeze of mineral tannins. Watch this flourish after time in the cellar.
