A bricky hue. Dark plum fruit, leather and subtle vegetal undertones of eucalypt, resin, soy sauce and medicinal herbs underscore its age and cool-climate origins, as do fine, cedary tannins and a sense of freshness to the finish, despite the hot, dry year. Trevor Mast’s first vintage is impressively well-knit on pouring; softening with time and air, it is best popped and poured, do not decant. Drink up.
