Originally a cattle farm, low beef prices in 1975 led to the planting of a 4.5ha plot of vines and Gralyn Estate is now well known for producing a wide range of wine styles. The 2014 vintage was ideal for Chardonnay, with good rain during the growing season followed by dry conditions during ripening. Fermented in French oak barriques with wild yeast and no malolactic fermentation.

Sarah Ahmed: Green apple and grapefruit bite, with perfumed dried pear lift. Long, pure, tight and linear. Super-young and made for ageing; this is not to be messed with now. It will warrant a higher score in the future I reckon.
Roger Jones: Restrained, focused, pure, seamless. This wine has amazing balance. It’s hard to define all of its attributes: seamless and a joy to drink.
Anthony Rose: Fine aromatics and fruit with a light herbal quality and grapefruit acidity maintaining an intensity. Beautifully evolving aromatics, while the sub-threshold oak and firm spine bring a degree of complexity.
