Aromatic and confident, presenting a handwoven gift basket of fruit, spice and a touch of rock salt. Further florals of rose petal, guava, lemon, finger lime, custard apple and feijoa mingle with white spice, white pepper, and a hint of ginger and nutmeg – Pfeffernüsse [German spiced cookies] to a tee. On the palate, the fruit is assertive and packs a punch, transitioning smoothly from first, second and third base through to a home run. A touch of residual sugar works, while vibrant acidity arcs overhead the fruit and phenolics. Taut and brimming with tension, despite the ripe fruit core, a flourish of bath salt and crushed quartz minerality lingers on the long, centred finish. It’s ready to drink now, but will also age gracefully for a few years.
