A sublime example of top class Carmenere from one of Chile’s leading producers. Winemaker Marcelo Retamal really delivered the goods in this single-vineyard wine, which comes from stony alluvial terraces on the Maipo River. It has notes of polished blackberry fruit, cassis, fresh tobacco leaf, cinders and graphite. Vibrant, juicy acidity gives lift, elegance and freshness, and while eminently broachable and delicious now, it will also benefit from extended cellaring.

Originally from Bordeaux, Carmenère has made a new home in Chile. Full-bodied, with dark fruit, evident tannins, beautifully integrated wood, plus a slight (positive) green character. A lovely alternative to Cabernet.
