(at The Wine Society autumn/winter press tasting, 27 Sep 2018)
The Wine Society has a treat for members: a six-bottle vertical from this estate of 1996-2001 for £105. The 1996 is sold out by the bottle but is the pick of the case, followed by this lovely 1999, which shows great weight and concentration of cigar spice, meaty blue fruits, pencil lead and grippy tannins. A classic claret drinking beautifully now.
