The Bouchard estate now owns 130ha of vineyards with 12 Grand Cru and 74 1er Cru. This is a top-Pommard vineyard to the southwest of the village, with high iron content and rich soils. Vibrant purple colour in the glass. Still quite youthful and vibrant on the nose with lots of dark damson fruit that has surprising freshness. Feels very Pommard like with grip and grainy tannins on the palate. Not as harmonious as some – will this ever be quite in balance? Impressively fresh, just a little rugged and drying on the finish.
