Displays how cooler vintages of this wine might age. There is admirable complexity here, with notes of liquorice, smoke and spice now coloured with a bit of truffle – it is mature but not overly so. The wine is pleasant, but the fruit character is slightly lean, and the structure is noticeably tannic and lacking a bit of generosity. Although rewarding now, I am not convinced that continued ageing has a lot of upside potential.
