The Echezeaux is quite dramatic this year, bursting from the glass with aromas of blueberry, cassis, red cherry, burning embers, grilled squab and an elegant framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is ample, concentrated and deep, with a lovely core of sapid fruit and a long, flavourful finish. Whereas Echezeaux is generally a broad, expansive wine, this year’s rendition from the domaine is unusually vertical.
