Domaine des Croix, Combe Bazin, St-Romain, Burgundy, France 2024

Has a lovely aroma of lime peel, white flowers, and an edge of flinty mineral and lees. The texture is lively, with plenty of crisp acid tension but also enough substance to keep it from tasting tart. The grapes are from a new 1ha plot, and Croix ferments and ages in large, old oak barrels. It is a terroir he loves: 'What gives it energy isn’t the Diam [closure] or sulphur, but the limestone,’ he says.
