Les St-Georges from the Hospices de Nuits has a pleasantly sweet blackberry fruit aroma with ample lashings of spice from the maturation in 100% new oak barrels, along with notes of smoke, mineral, and tar. The tannic structure is surprisingly supple and the wine has enough substance to support the elevage and maintain an elegance that is very attractive. The Hospices is among the largest owners of vineyards here, after Thibault Liger-Belair and Domaine Henri Gouges, who has done the maturation of this cask.
