This wine's pronounced ripe apple and pear aromas show a hint of butter and spice. The texture is creamy, ripe and long, without losing its acid balance. Although the oak ageing is evident here, it remains well-integrated and does not overwhelm the fruit. The wine is made from grapes purchased from the same supplier of thirty years who has 0.55 hectares of 70-year-old vines planted mid-slope in clay soils in this east-facing site; the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in cask (35% new) and will be racked early this year.
