André Brunel, who took over this 18th-century family estate from his father in 1971, is justifiably famous for his small-production Cailloux and Centenaire cuvées of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This well-priced drop, from grower fruit, is based on Grenache, with just the 15% of Syrah being oak aged. It's an approachable, fruit-forward red, with griotte cherry, damson and cured meat flavours, supple textured tannins and fresh acidity. Unfiltered.
