The Domaine St Ferréol itself is located between Aix-en-Provence and Nice, and this Viognier is labelled as IGP Pays d'OC which covers an enormous area across the south of France. It’s a plump, plush and pretty Viognier. Floral aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine and a touch of aniseed pervade, while the palate drips with apricot, vanilla and honey. It's fermented and aged in oak and has a weighty, creamy texture and a long, spicy finish. The richness and complexity on show here is impressive for under £15, and it's the perfect white for autumn, when we are beginning to look for slightly more weighty and comforting wines.
