Château de Crézancy, Sur Les Marnes, Sancerre, Loire, 2017

This new wine for M&S comes from 35-year-old vines on Kimmeridgian soil – a clay-limestone terroir rich with with ancient oyster shells said to give the wine a chalky texture and distinct minerality. It's less overtly spiky than some Sancerres, offering intense but soft gooseberry and grass characters on a creamy, leesy palate.
