It's almost like candied flower petals are drifting from the glass. Jasmine and orange blossom, all sweet and perfumed, lead onto fleshy stone fruit, showing apricot and nectarine in abundance. On the palate it’s plump and generous, almost glossy with fruit, yet never cloying. Grapefruit pith and bitter almond sweep in on the finish, tightening everything up and giving the wine a deliciously savoury edge. Floral, mandarin-tinged, fleshy yet pithy at the close. I love this. From the limestone terraces of Cassis, where Mediterranean varieties ripen easily but retain freshness thanks to the maritime influence.
