Georges Vernay is often referred to as the ‘king’ of Condrieu, and is credited with saving the Viognier grape and appellation in the 1950s. His daughter Christine has looked after winemaking since 1997 and this remains a benchmark. Although there are rich and weighty exotic fruits on the nose and palate, this is elegant and fine with lovely floral notes and cool, crisp acidity to keep the numerous elements in great balance. Glossy oak and a sappy finish round of a great Condrieu.
