This is the cuvée that used to be called 1er Né(z), and it's by far their best cuvée in 2017. It's a plot selection of 90+-year-old vines grown on soils rich in clay, limestone and galets, facing southeast, fermented in concrete and clay vessels with 50% whole-bunch fruit. The wine stays in the concrete and clay for a further 12 months, with a proportion in old barrels too. Rich and flowing on the palate, it's a little unstructured perhaps, but the blueberry and loganberry fruit is wonderfully fresh and defined, right into the finish. A juicy, authentic and well-balanced Rasteau of great character and clarity.
