Francois Villard, who trained as a chef, produces wines from numerous appellations in the northern Rhone. He ferments with indigenous yeasts, and uses little new oak to age his wines, although this Condrieu ages in one-third new oak. The nose is exotic and floral with honeysuckle and pear aromas. It's suave and rounded, rich and concentrated, and a slight softness suggests that, like most Condrieu, it should be enjoyed young. The finish is smoky, exotic and quite long.
