Stéphane isn't making the Vieilles Vignes de Jacques Vernay this year, so all the fruit went into the Combe de Malleval due to low volumes and the need for acidity in the main blend that the Vieilles Vignes brings. Picked in early September, partly from Malleval, partly from St Pierre de Boeuf, it's a uniform yellow-gold colour with sprightly, tangy white peach notes. It's full-bodied but not sweet, with keen acidity keeping things rolling and balancing the richness well. Part of the malo was blocked.
