Dark violet in the glass. Blackcurrant on the nose, with dark bramble fruit aromas. This is the latest of the Terre à Terre wines to be released, a heady and deep blend of Tannat, Malbec and Merlot grown on limestone terroir in the Gers region of southwest France. The palate is textured with chewy tannins and ripe fruit flavours - plum, black cherries and liquorice with the overall feel quite bold and full in the mouth. This is quite serious with density and depth of flavour. The tannins still need a little time to settle as they’re quite overpowering but this is a good pick for fans of full-bodied French reds and will stand up to grilled meats, stews and hearty meals. Give it time to air before drinking - at least an hour - and ideally save it a few more years to evolve more. More chewy tannins than the next one which are more dry and astringent.
