Lauer is a somewhat revered name when it comes to Riesling Sekt. Rather than harvesting very early, the base wines for this wine are from the highest parts of Lauer’s steep slate vineyards. It’s windy up there so the grapes stay healthy and clean without clocking up too much sugar yet reaching full ripeness with tart acidity. Disgorged after three years on the lees, this is shy on the nose but air brings notions of tart russet apples. The palate is serene and comes with very fine mousse; light yet full of lip-smacking citrus flavours. The finish is totally mouth-watering with gorgeous lemon rind notions and delicious length. Combines lightness with bags of flavour.
