This ‘undisciplined’ Nebbiolo is aged in amphorae and therefore does not qualify as a Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG, which requires ageing in oak. The use of dried grapes lends it depth, yet it is floral and flinty on the nose, with alpine acidity and red fruit clarity on the palate. It’s light enough for grilled fish, yet soulful and structured enough to age. Winemaker Marcel calls it ‘the soul of Nebbiolo’ – untamed, but unmistakably alpine Nebbiolo from Valtellina. Biodynamic.
