One of the Alessandria family’s original parcels, Capalot hails from vines planted in 1951. The southeast-facing plot is less than half a hectare and sits on limestone-rich clay with fine sand. Macerated raspberry liqueur, nutmeg and dried rose emerge from the glass. Midweight and limpid, it has an almost Langhe Nebbiolo-like frame of fine-boned tannins, surprisingly delicate for this site, and building with textural intensity, remaining finessed and polished. Juicy acidity highlights citrussy undertones, trailing off with a flavourful mix of cinnamon and liquorice.
