Germano has choice plots within the Cerretta cru, a south to southwest facing hill in Serralunga d'Alba. In this hot and somewhat uneven year, it manages to find its balance. Ample rather than finessed, the rich, ripe fruit fleshes out sturdy tannins and absorbs substantial alcohol. It's currently demonstrating plum, cherry and cocoa, with tar nuances starting to develop. Ageing is in untoasted French barrels of 700 litres, 20% new, for two years.
