Bearing the original label of the estate’s inaugural Barolo vintage (1967), the Riserva is a tribute to founder Michele Gagliasso. It blends grapes from the family’s historic vineyards in Torriglione and Rocche dell’Annunziata. Beautifully perfumed, this opens with almond, citrus blossom, dried tarragon and nutmeg. The palate is supple, mouthcoating and ripe. It recalls strawberry preserves, ginseng and tar. Layers of powdery tannins girdle and there is sufficient juiciness to keep it vibrant. This should be ready to drink when it is released in early 2027.
