<p>The first vintage of this Cabernet-based wine was 1982, and Angelo&#39;s father&#39;s dismay at seeing a fine Barbaresco site planted with French varieties is reflected in the name, as Darmagi means &#39;What a pity!&#39; in the local dialect. There is little evolution in colour or aroma, the nose displaying very rich blackberry and chocolate scents. The palate is initially lush and soft, but slightly furry tannins soon rise to the surface. It&#39;s forceful and powerful but lacks some finesse and nuance. Long, but quite effortful.</p>
