Subtly aromatic potpourri nose with violets, dark fruit, tobacco and ripe plums. Traditional style with juicy acidity, quite sturdy tannins and well-integrated oak. Great potential – a benchmark, polished Barolo. Complex.

At almost 20 years of age, this 2006 is full of tertiary complexity: leather, mushrooms, damp earth and thyme, with a meaty, iodine note. Still lively, in the mouth it showcases succulent dark berries and cherries, with plentiful fine, sandy tannins which have become well integrated. The finish flits from wood and chocolate to menthol and spice.
