Morrisons, The Best Barolo, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy 2018

Garnet in colour, the 2018 Barolo was aged in Slovenian oak for 18 months. With tell-tale sour cherry fruits and hints of herbs and dried flowers, it has a savoury overtone on the palate, supported by herbal-spiced tannins and minty freshness. Robust structure met with great concentration. Wood spices and a touch of warmth towards the finish, hinting at the 14% alcohol. A festive wine for hearty red meat dishes.
