Roversi, Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy, 2015

On release last year, Barbaresco 2015 was rated a five-star vintage by Decanter's Stephen Brook, and this example is drinking superbly now. It shows a classic lifted perfume of rose, cherry and a hint of truffle, while the elegant, silky, complex palate is layered with more ripe cherries and plums, fresh acidity and subtle smoky oak from ageing in a mix of barriques and botti. Excellent value!
