From a challenging vintage in central Sicily where organic, own-rooted vines make a Nero in a style that eschews the varietal's mainstream typicity. Dried stems (20%) are added when they are sweet and nutty to tanks for an extended maceration (until February). Smoky rose petals, leather and candied raspberry mark the wine's aromas. There is an elegance to balance a country authenticity. The stems give the wine structure like a well-knit fabric. The palate shows brighter, fresher fruits, ripe red berries, currants, and bright bing cherry. There is ample savoury character, rosemary, sage and contemplative minerality to finish.
