Here's something a bit different. Sicily isn't known for its sparkling wine, but this one is worth a try - it's made from Nero d'Avola, which is usually associated with bold reds, but in this case it acts much like a blanc de noirs made from Pinot Noir would. Ripe red fruit notes are joined by a hint of mushroom and damp earth savouriness, balanced by fresh acidity and a soft texture. Yum!
