From vineyards on the slopes surrounding Castello Banfi, planted with selected clones of Sangiovese, Poggio alle Mura is fermented in Banfi's hybrid French oak and stainless steel tanks then matured for 24 months in a combination of French oak barrels and barriques. Savoury with plenty of aromatic wood, spice, pot pourri, leather and macerated red fruit scents. Intense and cutting, its clean black fruit profile is accompanied by mint and spice. This 2017 is really fresh on the cheeks, with subtle grip and a spicy finish showing hints of black cherry, balsam and chocolate.
