Puro refers to Sangiovese in purezza – in this case a massal selection of 25 old local clones. Casanova is the vineyard – just half a hectare on macigno, or non-calcareous sandstone. Purity of black raspberry and glossy cherry sally forth. Grilled herb, chai tea and cedar lend intricacy. Elegant in flow with fantastically finessed tannins and penetrating acidity, I’d give this another year for the oak to fully meld.
