This experimental 100% Sangiovese Chianti Classico is fermented and matured in large amphorae on its skins and lees for 11 months, before spending three months in bottle. It has an enticing nose of wild strawberry, violets, lavender, and a brush of herbs, along with a sandy, bricky scent in the background. In the mouth it's intense, with upfront bright cherry and raspberry fruit segueing to strawberry and spice. The mid-palate is tight and dry - as with many amphorae wines - drawing the wine in like a corset before a final flourish of juicy red fruits and minerals. Super-drinkable!
