Le Crocine 57022 is a Bolgheri DOC with the appeal and concentration of a Superiore. This 2018 is impressively full with 15% alcohol and a dense palate. The wine is dark, loaded with pure leather, bramble fruit of great ripeness with hints of smashed blueberry, then focused on forest floor and dried mushrooms. The attack is smooth, tantalizing, ripe and soft but not without the structure for ageing. The grapes undergo a brief cold-soak before the fermentation starts naturally. Once fermentation is complete the wine is gently moved into second and third year French barrels for approximately 18 months. During this time battonage takes place. A stylish Bolgheri DOC at the top of price/quality spectrum.
