A great vintage throughout Tuscany, 1999 was very warm, though not extreme by today’s standards. The 1999 Luce has aged well – though faded in aromas of coffee, the palate has spunk and depth of dark, leathery berries with mint, liquorice and garrigue. Overall quite tame, the tannins still sport a slightly astringent tug. Lamberto says minor frost damage helped in their quest to achieve lower crop levels.
