Ethereal yet attractive, this hints at green tea and forest undergrowth with subtle flavours of dried berries and bay leaf. A leaner Luce, it comes across somewhat more Brunello-like in terms of texture and structure. It definitely has less volume, yet solid tannins cling persistently. Spring frost damage lowered yields in 2001. The Sangiovese was harvested very late, in the third week of October.
