Melini makes a single wine from its Radda property, La Selvanella, selected from the 50 hectares of vineyards which rise from 300 to 600 metres on diverse soils. First made in 1969, the 2019 represents the 50th anniversary release. Showing more focus and brightness than previous vintages, it is scented with pepper, orange peel, tea and currants. Red berries meet leather and underbrush on the palate, lifted by racy, citrussy acidity and framed with light, dusty tannins. Mint lingers on the finish. Already mellowed, this is ready to go.
