The youngest member of the Luce family, Lux Vitis is crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 2004, with a smidgeon of Sangiovese. Starting with an impenetrable pitch-purple hue, it is a colossus of a wine. Aromas of crème de cassis, earthy brambles and dark chocolate lead into tarragon and anise. Mouth staining and saturated in dark plum, black currant and deeply embedded oak toast, it's countered by concentrated puckering acidity. Uber sleek to begin, those tannins build to a grippy, gravelly crescendo, yet there are no hard edges: there's a fantastic rebound on the finish as this trickles away with dusty sage.
