Montefalco Sagrantino is a heavy hitter but, in the right hands, can produce rich yet refined wines. This example has been aged in barriques for 12 months, followed by around 20 months in bottle. Ripe dark fruit aromas are lifted by perfumed Parma violet, while its intense raspberry coulis, pomegranate and cherry flavours are balanced by super-fresh acidity and fine, integrated tannins. Spicy, lifted and balsamic finish.
