Valpolicella Ripasso has been dubbed the poor man’s Amarone, and Aldi’s example has enough of the rich, cherries-and-raisins-in-dark-chocolate bittersweetness to earn the comparison, as well as making it a contender to step in for Port when the cheeseboard comes round.
