New Zealand

A complete bouquet: a wine that initially smells ready, but with a deep complexity and charm. There's plums, cassis, bitter chocolate and earth, with dark baking spices from the wood and a natural dark brown sugar scent. Fantastic texture and silkiness on the palate, with firm tannins and plenty of acidity still around. This wine is still ageing and developing: the flavours are a mix of some primary but mostly secondary red stone fruits, dark blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry notes. Leather and anise then clove and vanilla oak notes. Very long finish; complex and fine.
