Boas Quintas, Opta Reserva, Dão, Portugal, 2012

The poor granite and sand soils here make the vines work extra hard. Charismatic, with a lovely nose of fresh red and black berries on the nose. The palate is gorgeous, with concentrated plum and blackberry flavours, and the finish is peppery and long.
