Port producer Churchill's also makes table wines from its Quinta da Gricha on the cooler southern bank of the Douro river. Showing impressive freshness, this one is a characterful field blend from 70-year-old vines, hand-picked and aged in new French oak for 12 months. Much lighter than you'd expect from a Douro red, it's packed with expressive berry and cherry fruit, around a mineral core, with subtle spice and chamois leather notes on the finish.
