Urtiga is an old, 3.4ha plot that has 62 different grape varieties planted, averaging over 100 years old, and planted into 250-year-old dry stone terraces, on really steep slopes. The nose is so dark and brooding, offering up dark chocolate coated cherries form its depths, as well as eucalyptus and violets. The palate is super silky, smooth, with pulsing acidity and a hard mineral core. There's a distinct bitterness on the finish, bitter leaves like chicory and a bitter chocolate. Smoke toast and char. Dense and incredibly full-bodied but also so fluid. A masterpiece.
