The Opstal Estate at Slanghoek in the Breede River Valley dates back to 1847, when it was bought by JC Rossouw. In 1950 Carl Everson, the fourth-generation of the family, decided to make his own wine rather than joining a co-operative, and a year later he planted the vines which are the source of this single-vineyard Chenin.

The 2017 has an attractively opulent texture with ripe citric flavours. The oak is well handled and the wine has good length on the finish.
