This Syrah is an even split between Elgin grapes and estate vines in Greyton, so it could be interesting to compare with the soon-to-be released 2017, which is all Elgin fruit. It’s all oak-aged, but the barrels are old, and this lets the cool-climate fruit sing out. It shows a cheerful damson and black cherry expression, with some hallmark black pepper lift on the palate and gossamer tannins wrapping round the fruit like a silk negligée. Wonderfully drinkable!
