Painted Wolf, Roussanne, Paarl, South Africa, 2014
(at North South Tasting, 16 Feb 2017)
Matured on Chenin Blanc lees in 300 and 500 litre French oak barrels for 11 months, with regular batonage. The result is a vibrant wine with an apricot, citrus rind and honey nose and a long, creamy palate with stone fruit and baked apple. It has a lovely fresh acidity that cuts through the richness.
